Only a week ago, we entered Q4, 2025 and yes, we’re as shocked as you are. Nevertheless, it’s now the time to finalise, if not done so already, what the plan is for the rest of 2025. Media momentum moves in waves, and we are now approaching the final wave of media impetus for the year. Let’s delve into how to craft a winning PR strategy for the remainder of 2025.
First, let’s look at what we mean by strategy, particularly in the context of PR. The strategy should include a structured plan that aligns goals to audiences, messages, channels, and timelines to manage and protect a company’s corporate reputation. It also involves spelling out what success looks like and how to measure that.
Why is a PR strategy important?
As with anything, having a strategy in place helps to define goals and lays out how the company will set out to achieve those goals. PR planning is essential to clearly understand where you want to go with your PR ambitions and what you want to achieve. But what are the most crucial elements to your PR strategy?
Ultimately, Sales Generation
As we know, PR is a long term strategy and there’s no direct link between PR and sales. Indirectly though, performing PR activities does increase interest in your brand, leading to greater sales volumes overall.
Increased Brand Awareness
One of the key aspects of any PR strategy is the increased awareness it brings. This happens when increased publicity leads to the public being able to recognise your brand, its image, its values and most importantly, its credibility.
Bolsters Trust
The stronger your voice in any given industry, the more likely it is that your reputation slowly gets strengthened as you are perceived as a trusted authority in the field. One of the most effective ways of doing this is to publish bylined, thought leadership content attributed to you, or your spokesperson. It puts a name and a face to your brand, humanising it and allowing it to garner more trust from the public.
Attract Investors
Having a considered and well thought out PR strategy will ensure your brand gets to the right people, in the right way, at the right time. This includes potential investors and buyers. Rolling out a strategy that focuses on strong messaging, media coverage, thought leadership and executive profiling is a sure fire way to get in front of those investors. These elements, used in unison, creates buzz around your brand, differentiates you from your competitors and creates third party endorsements, building investor and buyer confidence and leading to higher company valuations.
Media Relations
The bread and butter for Pearscroft Communications, it should go without saying that strong media relations is the foundation of any worthwhile PR strategy. Conversely, having a strategy behind your media outreach will help guide the type of content to be released and the type of publications, and by extension, the type of audience, you’ll be reaching. Over time, relationships with those journalists and broadcasters become stronger, benefiting both your brand and the wider media pool.
Success Measurement
Because there isn’t a direct and linear link between PR and sales, other methods of measuring success need to be deployed to measure the effectiveness of the PR strategy. Whether it’s a return on investment, web traffic, customer base, engagement, mentions, etc., a clear method to evaluate a campaign or strategy must measure the impact on your brand. A successful strategy therefore needs a clear criterion of what it wants to achieve so outcomes can be measured against this. Often, this involves media monitoring that tracks statistics relating to your online presence, sentiment, activity, and web traffic from target audiences.
